I got this machine as a Mother's day gift because I had been talking about it for so long. I discovered it at the mall in November of 2012 while Christmas shopping. My feet and legs were so tired from shopping, and I typically have calf pain daily anyhow. I stopped at Brookstone for a back massager and happened to try this machine. I had been needing a calf massage and didn't even realize machines as this existed. I was instantly rejuvenated and it cured my tired feet on the spot! I always stop at the store to use this when shopping. This is perfect for those with leg pain. It has the right amount of squeeze for those who need a soothing pain to ease thier muscle soreness. It feels good to use right away, but be warned that it will leave you sore after the first few uses, especially if you use it an hour or more. This will go away with time and use. My calves would always feel sore at night as if bruised. When I would have my husband squeeze my calfs I would say he needed to squeeze harder. It hurt, but it also is what made them feel better. This is what this machine delivers. The programs are great in how they alternate between vibration, rolling, and squeezing all in one program. It actually feels like hands are giving the massage. I love this product! The only suggestion for improvement I have is that the control panel should face the user and not forward, but who even cares when it feels so GOOD! I've paired this machine with the i-need back massager for heavenly relaxation.

I love this product! After the first time, it was so painful and did not try another time after 2 days. As the pain was gone, I use it everyday. After a week using, I extend to 30 minutes and am very enjoyable. Definitely this relax my foot and leg muscle.

Spent a half hour on the demo unit at Brookstone, and loved it. Brought one home, and everyone HATES it. Very painful, with no way to adjust the pressure of the squeezing or the pressure of the rollers. It has had over 30 full cycles with multiple people, and is not getting better. Not sure why the store demo unit was so pleasant and this one isn't, but it is going back.

Made this purchase before even trying, because there are always people using this massager whenever I go there. I am a woman who have size 7 feet and my husband's feet are size 11. We both agree that it's quite painful at first, especially outside of the calves for me, and ankles for my husband. Even though it hurt the first time of use on our calves and ankles, the bottom of our feet felt GREAT! This massager gives enough of pressure and the rollers are on the right spots!!

After reading other users' reviews, we found a chair with the right height, and we adjusted the massager to right angles for us. It helps a little, but still hurts.

We keep using it at least twice a day, sometimes 4 times a day, the pain get less and less, our calves are so relax and tender. My husband had to use the widest setting for his calves at first, but now he is able to reduce the width and still feel comfortable.

My own experience tells me that the reasons I had pain before is becuase my musles are very tight and the massager is not adjusted to the right angle to my body. As long as you adjust the angle and give enough of time for the massager to relax your musles, you will feel great.

I have suffered from Plantar Faciitis for two years and have looked at several models of massagers at Brookstone over the same period of time. This is the first one that met my needs and provided a soothing massage. Past models I've tried in the store either put the death grip on my feet or had reflexology points that hit my feet in the wrong places (woman's size 8), primarily in the toe and heel. I was very happy to find this latest model to be so comfortable and don't regret my purchase for a second! The addition of the heat function is a real plus and it seems they have refined the massage functions so they are therapeutic, not painful. I've not experienced the issues that some have reported as it pertains to the calf massage function. While this model is considerably more expensive than the others, it is well worth it.....especially if you suffer from chronic foot pain.

I have been wanting some type of foot/leg massager for a while and went to a Brookstone store to try out the different options. I like a deep massage so this massager appealed to me. It felt great in the store. When I bought it and took it home, I sat on a random chair and put my feet in and it did not seem like the same experience I had in the store; I experienced some pain similar to some of the other reviewers. But I thought that was strange and figured I was doing something wrong, since it felt good in the store. I went back to the store and figured out how high the chair seat was and what type of angle the store model was adjusted to when the massage felt good for me. Then I went home and figured out which chair was more appropriate and what angle I should adjust the massager to. From then on I have had the ultimate relaxing time with the massager. So I think that if you expect to take this home and sit in whatever chair you want with your legs at whatever angle you want, this massager is not going to work for you, but if you are willing to put in a little research time, this can be the massager of your dreams. I use it for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 at night and feel a lot more energized afterward. It is a deep tissue massage so if you don't like much pressure, you won't like it, but if you do like a firm massage, it is really awesome. I particularly love the reflexology setting with heat. The relax setting is really nice for first thing in the morning or late at night too. The massager does have a lot of options in terms of types of massage, ability to add or not add vibration and heat, adjustability of width and angle, etc. and most massagers cannot do this.

Had a ruptured disc L4 L5. After many years and nerve damage in left Leg, I had back surgery and look for relief of pain and tension in left leg. Bought this foot and calf massage about a week ago. Absolutely love it. Only one I found to massage completely up calve muscle and firm enough to be affective. Little pricey but find money well spent every time I use it. Everyone in my family that's used it, wants one..

I was looking for a good foot massager, this focuses primarily on the calf. It seemed incredibly painful on the inside of the calf to the point I needed to turn the machine off. I will be returning mine. Not what I expected for the price.

Just got this for Christmas. It messages too deeply and is painful. The salesman said it will loosen up after a week but I'm not certain we want to give it that much time as it is painful to use it
