I exchanged 3 Brookstone combat helicopters with the realistic joystick for these quadcopters. I read the reviews on the quads and they were mixed. My boys really wanted to continue with something so I took a chance and got these. They are amazing. The 3 of us have learned how to fly these things, made up games, and are getting better at them every day. These are tricky to get the hang of first. That being said, my 7 and 9 year old zip them around the room without a problem. I have contacted customer service about a few questions and they respond immediately. Parts are replaceable and you can buy back-up batteries to keep the battles going. They have performed everyday with no problems! The best part in my opinion is that the better you get you realize how much more they can do. It is a lot like learning how to play a musical instrument. These quads are a blast!

I bought a pair of these from Brookstone. I'm good at flying the Blade Nano QX and the Syma X1 as well as a Wii Motion/Plus. This will be perfect right? Wrong!

The quad doesn't really respond 1:1 with your control tilt. You'll tilt forward, but it doesn't go forward very much or you have to overtilt it just to keep it from going backward (mine loves to go backward!). I read the manual & always made the sure the X on the controller went solid indicating a level controller before lifting off. Strafing left and right was little better, but still many times you would be tilting and the drone would not correspond. I was always sure to keep the nose directly away from me to test the tilting.

All in all, after 30 minutes of flying, this is going back to Brookstone. I love the idea of an air laser battle, but it's not much fun if the quads are not fun to control. I'm not going to spend 8 cycles learning how to hover. Really wish Blade/Syma would come out with a "Fighter Edition" of the Nano QX or X1.

I hope Mimix considers a 4 channel standard controller, their quad design is pretty good although the guards aren't as strong as the Nano QX and I had a blade break in the first 5 minutes. They also have 2 kinds of replacement blades which look exactly the same except for a tiny marking...and removing a blade can be feat of strength can easily bend the rotor shaft.

Good luck to Mimix and I'm very interested in v2 if it has improved or different controls.

I'm a well-seasoned intermediate pilot of RC helicopters, quadcopters and tandems. I thought the QR would be a fun bird to fly. However, I was really disappointed when I opened it up and started flying it. It does not seem to have a center of gravity and just goes every which way around the room. That's probably because of the overly simple transmitter which allows little or no finesse of movement. When it hits the ground from one of its crazy movements, it often lands on its back side. It is not easy to fly as the outside of the box indicates. Definitely not worth the cost even at the $40 discount. One plus of this quad is that there is a removable battery which might give it a longer life provided the legs and/or rotor guards hold up.

Bought this as a replacement for another Brookstone toy. After having flown a few of the helicopters I will say that this thing is a lot harder to fly. Hovering is a challenge; not sure if it's a response time issue with the controller or an overall stability problem (couldn't possibly be the user...). I likened it to balancing a marble on a bowling ball. There is a normal mode and an expert mode, but I haven't even gotten to the expert level yet. Seems pretty durable, even though the plastic shell is remarkably thin. Will keep practicing - maybe I can get a flight time over 10 seconds before I destroy it. Fun to learn, but rating takes a hit for the pricetag and the apparent stability/responsiveness issue.

I got this as a Christmas gift. It took a couple flights to get used to the motion controller, but once I did... wow. The helicopter is very responsive (part of the reason it takes a bit of practice).

Flight time is about 6 mins and average for flying things this size. It can survive crashes better than most of the flying toys I've had.

The best thing about the product is that even after 15+ flights, I'm still having a good time perfecting my piloting skills.

This was a Christmas present for my adult son. After reading directions he was disappointed it wouldn't hover as he had seen a cheaper version do. Because of the slow response to the controls it crashed and broke a blade. After replacing the blade (comes included) it wouldn't take off at all. They did take it back no problem. He ended up with a store credit and got a remote control ball that he really likes! Works with his iphone and drives the cats crazy!LOL
