This is my second "Mighty Max" Tower Fan, the first lasted me over six years and was a great fan, the motor eventually burned out, which is not unusual for such an appliance in a six year span. I just purchased the lastest version of the Mighty Max and I am even more impressed than with the first one. Brookstone's latest version is MUCH lighter than the old one and the integrated carrying handle makes it much easier to move/carry. In addition I was delighted at the quiet operation. After turning it on initially (on low setting) I thought it wasn't working because it was so quiet! Even the high speed is much quieter than the older version. The oscillation range is broad, which I greatly appreciate as I am using this fan in a 18x25 foot living area. During a recent BBQ the room filled with smoke and this fan cleared the smoke very well in a short period of time. As well, the price six years ago was the same at [$] so I appreciate Brookstone still offering the improved unit at the old price.Many don't appreciate the bright LED screen and it definitely is very bright but I am not using it in a bedroom so it's not an issue for me. The buttons being situated on top of the unit are a better design than the older version as well, which had them on the front and you had to squat to see them. Easier to depress with arthritis and other hand ailments too! Hopefully I won't have an issue down the line with the need to re-write this review!

We bought this fan because we were looking for a quiet fan for night time use. At first we used it in our living room during the day, it did seem quieter than our box fan. The BREEZE mode is silly frankly, the fan adjusts from low to high and they think that gives it a breezy feeling, you're better off using the oscillator so the fan motor isn't adjusting constantly.
When we brought the fan into our bedroom for night use, we found that #1 it is no quieter than our other fans. It's just a higher pitch hum. #2 for some reason this fan has a bright light with the display panel that you cannot shut off. It's brighter than a night light.
So the combination of the high pitch hum and light is why I rank this 3 stars.
We will use it in the day time, but it's OUT of the bedroom!

Works great in my home office. Quiet and cools the room effectively. I had to return the first one that I got. It started with a clicking noise when rotating and after 3 days the fan sounded like a small helicopter. Exchange was no problems and the new one works as it should. Hence the recommendation to test it immediately and loss of one star.
