I have used this model alarm clock for my frequent business travel overseas. Loved it so much, I bought ones for my son and daughter when they traveled. Was sad when mine finally (after many years of good use) wore down such that one small part of the display time was no longer readable. Could not find this model in our local Brookstone, so ordered online. Am looking forward to many more years of good use. Note that the flashlight feature is somewhat unique among alarm clocks. I have used it a LOT.

Nice looking piece of junk. Here is why.
Rather than repeat the same CON statements, this is in addition to them.
It is totally worthless for anyone who has a high frequency HEARING DEFICIT or is a DEEP SLEEPER.
THE ALARM is so HIGH PITCHED and BARELY AUDIBLE you won't hear it. It is just a little louder than a mosquito buzzing in your ear.
You have to press the top of the clock to light the display. Instead of just opening your eyes to see what time it is, you have to fumble and manually turn on the light to see what time it is potentially knocking it over and turning on the flashlight further awakening you.
Seeing what time the ALARM is set for is only visible when you take the clock apart and fumble with the controls. Someone "clever designer" thought the temperature was more important than the basic function of an alarm clock that is, verifying what time it is set for. IT IS NOT EASY TO SET THE ALARM. The control buttons are minuscule and you have to remove the cover to get to them. The type font size on the setting controls is about 35,1000ths of an inch high, so you better have your glasses available.
So unless you have hearing like a bat and eyes like a hawk, buy something else.

I bought and exchanged this for another one because the backlight stopped working after second night. Same thing happened with second replacement one. I am returning it because it is defective product not the batteries. I'm a flight attendant so I need a reliable alarm clock AND one with a constant light.

          Comments about Microbeam Travel Clock:

This has all the features I want in a travel alarm. A temperature reading and LED light as well as time and alarm. BUT the upright design makes it hard to read without picking it up. Even WORSE the catch that holds the battery broke and I have it taped together. To reset the time or alarm, you need to remove the battery cover and retape it back. If someone drops it (as a hotel made did) and the batteries fall out, you have to reset everything.

            Comments about Microbeam Travel Clock:

Perfect for getting up in the middle of the night and having some light to see where you're going. The base could be a little wider, as it tips over easily, but other than that, it's exactly what I was looking for. Batteries were almost dead, too. Had to buy new batteries right away.

                Comments about Microbeam Travel Clock:

Very poorly designed clock. To set or even SEE the alarm time you need to remove the back cover and expose the batteries. Guess how often the batteries will fall out while you have the back cover off? The answer is 100% of the time. It's thin and tall which means it topples over very easily (especially first thing in the morning when you're trying to hit "SNOOZE" and accidentally knock it under the bed). I'm absolutely AMAZED at how bad the design of this item is. It's an Alarm Clock...yet it doesn't display the alarm time. It has the date. And the day. And the ambient room temperature. And a FLASHLIGHT. But to see what time the alarm is set for you have to take this thing apart.

I use this product for travel as well as at home. I especially appreciate the light in motel rooms, etc. The clock is small and smooth and packs easily. I bought two larger clocks that also did time and temperature, but kept looking until I found this smaller clock, which suits my needs beautifully. I probably should have bought two!

                    Comments about Microbeam Travel Clock:

The designer(s) of this travel clock seemed to put a greater focus on incorporating a flashlight rather than sticking to the main purpose: an alarm clock. In order to set the alarm and/or clock time, the battery cover has to be removed each time. When you're into the alarm setting mode, there are buttons to slide, buttons to unlock, re-lock, etc. The unit is very top heavy (should be bottom heavy, if anything) which causes it to tip over at the slightest touch. It's also hard to get it to stand up without real effort. I should've returned this item but too late. Keep Shopping!

I bought this clock at the airport to replace my old travel clock. The battery door would not come off and when it finally did, the latch broke. So, now it's worthless. Junk.
