I looked at and tested a few less expensive percussion massagers before buying this one. I am very pleased with the purchase. The unit is very well constructed and the weight is actually a plus. The top portion of the unit is polished aluminum instead of plastic and the unit is heavy enough that you don't have to apply pressure. Some reviewers have listed the weight as a negative thing but to me it's certainly a plus.
When using the massager on another all you need do is glide the unit along and let it do all the work. The cheaper and lighter units I have tried will do a lot of unpleasant bouncing if you don't apply pressure. As mentioned it is quite easy to turn the unit off or change settings by accident because of the location of the buttons. Once you get used to using it the "problem" becomes almost non-existent. This unit costs a bit more than most other massagers of this type but you more than get your money's worth with this product.
I read the reviews about units that have failed to last and can only say that anything mechanical can break or stop working. I feel confident that there are no inherent design flaws to cause this.
I hope mine lasts for years but if it ever breaks, I will either have it repaired or I will replace it with the same model. I like it that much :) The massage this thing gives is WONDERFUL.
If you don't buy it for yourself... buy it for a use it on a loved one. They WILL appreciate it :)

I didn't keep the packaging and my sister could not find the receipt, so I was out of luck. Way to expensive to break so easily. Hopefully the manufacturer reads these reviews.

I used this massager only occasionally over the course of a year and a half to relieve back tension, and it works beautifully WHEN it works. I doubt I used it more than 50-60 times for 3-7 minutes at the most. It just stopped working last week, and there is no warranty coverage.

If there were a wildfire in my mountain community; I would grab Max along with my cherished photographs and animals. It is my most prized possession. There is no other massager on the market that compares. I have owned mine for 6 years and just purchased one for a friend. Be careful who you share it with because everyone falls in love with Max. I even have to massage my two cats because they LOVE it.

I had one of the original Thumpers and used it for many years before it no longer worked. It was a great device, but could not be used without someone holding and moving it. This one can be used by an individual and it is much lighter and easier to move around.

I purchased as a gift for my overworked husband, who has a very physically demanding job. He loves it because it's heavy duty and in moments he feels relief in the tightness of his muscles. Awesome product! As a LMT, I find this machine to really help work the stress out of my aching muscles after a long day of relieving everyone elses stress. It's very durable, has a great load pressure and doesn't bog down. It actually out preforms my other duel node massager, my Genie rub, and the thumper we have at the office, which all bog down when a little pressure is applied.

I got this massager for my husband who has severe back muscle pain. It works WONDERS!!!! It has made an enormous difference in how he feels. The only thing I don't like is how heavy it is. Other than that, we both love it and would definitely recommend it.
