Although a tight squeeze, it does hold my ipad with a thin, protective case on. Not sure I would travel with it because a bit bulky but perfect for home use. I've purchased two (one for myself and one for a gift). I plan to purchase a third one and perhaps more for my 5th grade daughter's class - they have 3 ipads in the classroom.

Just like we have stand for books to go along side our keyboards for text entry, this is a wonderful stand for ibooks. Also nice presentation in the den for iTunes or Pandora, and a cool stand for viewing Netflix movies. I also use it for the ESPN app to multitask with football on TV.

This stand makes me feel like I'm Bill Gates with little gadgets that make me feel connected in the bedroom, kitchen, etc... listening to Pandora or Epicurious, cooking in the kitchen... it turns in many ways - the only bad thing is that it doesn't have the resistance to necessary hold in every angle you want as the ipad is pretty heavy, but that is easily remedied with putting a bit of padding in the back.

I've ordered two other "stands" for my iPad, and returned each one the same day. This one, though, is the one I've been wanting all along. It holds the iPad securely, but doesn't damage it. It also makes it viewable at ANY ANGLE. I've basically just turned my iPad into an actual television, portable dvd player, personal computer w/monitor and digital picture frame with this one purchase.
