The set-up is easy and easy to use. I had hundreds of slide taken in the fifties and have kept them all of this time wondering how to convert them. Then I found this machine on line. It converted all of the slides without any problem what so ever. The only thing it needs is a magnifying cover to go over the 2 1/2 inch viewing screen. I was not able to tell if the slides were in backward until I moved them to the computer and viewed them full screen. Because of that I had to convert some of them again with the slide turned around. This machine couldn't get any easier to use and accurate. Very pleased.

I thought this would be an economical alternative to the somewhat more expensive photo, slide, and negative scanners produced by HP and Epson. I wish I'd spent fifty or a hundred dollars more and bought one of those other scanners. That said, for the home user who doesn't know DPI from ISP and doesn't care, this scanner works fine. It's dead simple to set up and start scanning your film and slides. It takes a snapshot of the film and produces a digital image that is probably adequate for most people. I used it to scan a large collection of family slides and film negatives from the sixties to the eighties, and I am not personally satisfied with the results. Unfortunately, the actual photo contained within a 35mm cardboard slide sleeve was not always a standard size. I had some slides in a weird format called "Pana-Vue" and I could not scan those with the included slide adapter because the frame cut off the edges of the picture. I also had some slides with pictures that were much smaller, probably shot with 110 film. I couldn't scan these, either. Even more standard size 35mm slides often had the problem where anything at the edge of the picture was cut off by the frame. Sometimes that means a person looks like they were the victim of a terrible photographer who cropped half their body out.
Another problem was the inability to tinker with the picture quality settings. DPI is fixed and immutable. Also, many of my slides had blue or red tinting due to age. It would have been nice to be able to fix that using the hardware, rather than having to go to a software solution. It does have the ability to rotate or flip images, which is useful.
To make this product better I'd suggest the following: a slide and film adapter frame with a thinner edge, so as not to crop non-standard formats; a more robust control panel for those who want to change the scan settings; and perhaps the ability to select from several different DPI settings.

Comments about iConvert® Instant Slide & Negative Scanner:
After reading the reviews I was concerned about purchasing the product but I was determined to find a way to convert my 50 year old negatives to digital images. I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of use and quality of my scanned images. My only downgrade was the method of setting the exposure for the slides but I understand why it is the way it is. A very satisfying purchase and I had some wonderful surprises as I was able to see photos I had taken 50 years ago.

Comments about iConvert® Instant Slide & Negative Scanner:
I was nervous about this purchase and put it off for years even after consulting with friends who had purchased one and loved it. Very happy with the product with the one exception of changing the exposure setting. But I understand this was probably the simplest way for the manufacturer to do it and keep costs down.
Would recommend to anyone. I have a windows 7, 64 bit Dell and used a smartcard from a Fuji camera. I had absolutely no problems in scanning B&W negatives, color negatives and loading them to the computer or my cameras (Fuji and Nikon). I have yet to try color slides but anticipate no problems

Comments about iConvert® Instant Slide & Negative Scanner:
While the scanner does a good and quick job of digitizing my slides, the light source is on the blue side. Now I'm going to have to use Lightroom to figure out how to get the proper colors back into my digitized slides. Hopefully, I will be able to apply the same filter for all slides I digitize. If I have to balance each one individually after they've been digitized, the scanner wouldn't even rate 1 star. I'd recommend this scanner to friends, but only if they are looking for something inexpensive and have the time to process each of their slides after they've been digitized.

I sent this instrument back. The quality of the digital pictures is so inferior to the original slides, it is not worth the money, or any money in fact.

Comments about iConvert® Instant Slide & Negative Scanner:
I have found several hundred of my old negatives that have been lost for years, but with the negative scanner, I have brought joy to lots of my friends and family. I have discovered a virtual treasure trove right in my own home. Many pictures of people passed on from the time I took them and now I can view them. I lost my father about 3 years ago, and now I am presenting pictures of my father to my mother that she has never seen. The only drawback to me is that it is for 35mm film and not the medium format that I shot later in life. They need to produce one that can scan 120 negatives.

Comments about iConvert® Instant Slide & Negative Scanner:
I just transferred all of my family picture slides onto the disk and then downloaded the pictures onto my computer....... and viola! I'm not the most computer savy person and it was easy. Some of these pictures were 50 years old. What a great gift to myself and to my siblings! I only wish I'd been able to do this while my parents were still with us here, but now I have all kinds of forgotten memories flooding back. Well worth the small price!
