We got this for use around the house, and yard. We love to sit outside by the fire pit in the winter, or on the deck for grilling or enjoying the outdoors when the weather is warmer. We normally drag out the extension cords, CD Player/Radio, or sometimes a laptop to stream music, or listen to our favorite football teams. It can be a pain dragging all this out, or tripping over cords, or if there is a chance they may get wet. With this wireless speaker, all those worries are gone. We can hook to a laptop, iPod/iPhone/iPad, mp3 player, home TV or Stereo, etc, and it can stay indoors, while we enjoy the music or sounds. No worries about it getting wet either. My wife also loves it around the house, as she will plug in the base and start her music, and carry the speaker to whatever room she is in. She LOVES it. Can't wait to get out on the lake, and be able to beach the boat in our favorite cove, plug in the MPS or to the boat radio and carry the speaker to the beach area we relax around. I would say if you are in the market, DON'T hesitate to get this speaker, well worth the money spent.

Redardless of how close the transmitter is to the speaker, the speaker makes random loud popping and hissing noises. The manual indicates this is possible if the transmitter is too far away, or there are obstructions. However 6 feet away hardly counts as "too far."
So much for a 150 feet range. Even 10 feet is too far.
There is no excuse for such a poor wireless design. The technology for this kind of application is at least 50 years old.

I received this as a gift. I use the speaker regularly and enjoy, however the handle has become sticky, very sticky. Carrying it around and your hand sticks to it. I consider this a manufacture defect and Brookstone is no help. They say the warranty is expired. Really! On a mfg defect! Good luck getting things fixed.

The only problem is the batteries get used up quickly especially for a full day at the beach. The other problem is the cord attaches to the underside of speaker, so when plugged in to bottom the speaker basically sits on the cord. Plug in should be somewhere else.

Worked great with MP3 device connected directly not so well with the wireless (lots of static and interference). Unfortunately it only has worked on three separate occasions now it continuously has a pulse sound that is present with or without a device connected to the speaker. Unable to listen to anything on it now. Very expensive for a three time use product.
Brookstone said they would have help me with an exchange for a new unit but it was given to me as a gift by my wife and she did not hang on to the receipt.

Would not waste my money. Purchased 2 speakers plus the 1 year extended warranty. Currently at the end of the 2 year period and the entire time had problems with the speakers cutting out now they just turn themselves off.

We bought the speaker and it was not usable. There were songs where the lyrics were not audible, not in it range. Very poor, analog transmitter from base to unit. Could not find a frequency (of the three) that did not have interferrence. We now have a bluetooth speaker that is a fraction of the size and sounds 1000 times better.
