Bought this at the airport on the way home from N.Y. Love the size & decided to buy it because I wanted something "afordable" but having a "BASE" ELEMENT which so many devices do not have. Most are very tenor & high pitched. The range is very good on this compact speaker system. I'm quite impressed as I have a good ear to balance, etc. in music. Volume is very low to high. The only thing I did not get was the 8G attachment for my iPod. All other attachments are included for flip position. I'm impressed. Maybe the girl that wanted it for her office should try to exchange it because mine is perfect in volume control even to as low as to hardly be heard. A PLUS is that my iPod also charges while listening & I can use 4 AAA batteries or plug it in! Impressed.

We bought this for an iPod dock so for camping. Love the design and simplicity, but that is where it ends. Unfortunately, this will be returned before it really gets tested on battery life and other features.
The first problem you will find is that it easily falls over. So if you have it on a level stable surface all time it will be fine. Just don't bump it or it will fall.
The second problem is the volume controls do not work very well. Press once to lower the volume slightly and it turns it off. Press to raise the volume and it jumps to too loud of a setting. Playing around with them long enough eventually gets to an acceptable volume. Perhaps this unit is broken, but it was very frustrating trying to adjust the volume and enough for me to give it a one star.
In my limited usage, the sound quality seemed OK for what this is. You cannot expect phenomenal sound from a unit like this.

Got this product to use outdoors at a birthday party for my girlfriends dad. Plugged it in and let it play. It worked great. Sound is great output is wonderful and it is very easy to use.

I needed music when I travel. I picked this up at the airport on the way to Europe. I have a Sony unit that I like but its power supply did not take 220V. This unit only required an adapter to the plug, not a transformer so my packing was reduced. This is a good travel size. Keeping it away from five stars was the volume control. The second step on the volume is too big a jump and the first step is quiet. If you want louder volumes you won't notice.

I bought this for my office and loved it so much I bought another one for home. The sound is great for such a small unit. It's light, but sturdy. It runs on battery or AC so I can easily bring it to another room if I need to. When it's plugged in, it charges my iPod -- nice touch. Since the iPod can be docked horizontally it's GREAT for watching a video or a movie without having to use headphones. Only criticism is the volume control isn't very precise, so you to play with it a bit to get the volume at just the right level, but this is minor. Overall, it's highly recommended!

I was shopping for something sand/waterproof to take to the beach to use with my iPod. Unfortunatley, I never found anything that met my expectations. Although this speaker isn't water or sand-proof, it's small enough that I can place it on top of my cooler or beach towel and protect it pretty well from anything in the beach environment that I wouldn't want on my ipod or speaker. It's lightweight so I can carry it in my purse or beach bag. I intend on using it when I go to the pool, in hotels while getting ready on vacation or weekend trips to the lake. My other ipod speaker probably weighs 10lbs, so this is much more conveinent! I love the fact that it can be powered by batteries or an outlet! The sound is loud and crisp! Definitely worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone!

I recieved this as a gift and I was really excited about it until I tried to use it at work and had the same problem as everyone else. Poor volume control. I have it set on the lowest setting but it still is too loud for an office. I don't think it lives up to Brookstone quality either. I definitly would have returned if it hadn't been a gift.

It has a nice set of speakers. I have the ipod classic so the side flip is irrelevant. However, it easily flips just as it says. I got it for using at work but the volume adjustment made that an impossibility. It's either up too loud or it's completly down with no sound at all. Oh, and a remote would have been a nice touch for watching movies.

This would be perfect if you could control the volume and charge it. To control the volume and not have it to loud you have to use the external cable in which than you can not charge it.
