I like wearing this jacket out in the cold weather, but you really have to have it up against you to feel the heat. An outer jacket on top of this would work well, but that kind of defeats the purpose.
The battery takes a while to charge and slowly discharges even when it's not in use. Basically you have to keep it plugged in until you're ready to use it. The battery on the high setting lasts about an hour and a half. If you purchase an additional battery, I think this would help. You don't want to be at a football game and your battery dies at half-time!
Speaking of the battery, it's kind of bulky sitting in the left lower inner pocket. If you happen to put your cell phone in the outer left pocket, the whole jacket will pull to the left uncomfortably. You kind of have to consciously balance yourself out by putting heavy items in your right pocket to offset the weight of the battery in the left pocket.
One last thing: This jacket is a PET HAIR MAGNET. It picks up and hold all kinds of hair. I've tried removing the hair with a lint brush, and throwing it in the dryer with a couple of dryer sheets. No luck. Hair and lint get hooked in the fibers of the jacket and are difficult to remove unless you pick them out by hand.
Other than that, this jacket is very warm and will keep you toasty warm when others are cold. One example is in the supermarket near the frozen food aisle. With the touch of a button I'm warm and comfortable.
I'd recommend this jacket, but it's probably best used underneath another jacket. You might need that extra layer in the event your 90 minutes of battery are up!

I really like the Jacket, and the way it heats up. The problem it has a plactic zipper,that is NOT durable after about 20 zips it broke. When I calle customer service, they did give me a return #, but thats going to take weeks, its cold now,customer service could have been more helpfull.

I bought this jacket for my father-in-law who is always cold and the heater was a joke. He could not get it to work. We tried to exchange if and it was past the return period. Very unsatisfied since the jacket is very costly without the heater working, as a fleece not warm enough to keep him warm. Pricey and not perfect.

I had the last version that Brookstone sold and this is much better. It heats up immediately and the battery lasts longer. Jacket is conservative looking which is good. I'll use it this winter and also try it out under the leather jacket when riding season starts.

I wear this jacket almost all the time. Sometimes with the heater turned on and sometimes without the heater. The only drawback is that the battery doesn't last more than about 2 hours. I probably need to purchase a back up battery.
