I use this mostly in our home for power outages. We actually had our power off the other day for repairs and my 4 year old daughter used it to charge the ipad. She was able to be entertained while the repairs were made and I had my sanity. We are moving so I haven't taken it out of the box and we were able to use it while it was still in the packaging and charge our device.

Bought two units and after only a couple of uses, one of the units stopped charging. During a store demo the rep also said that unlike Lithium Ion batteries, that these are not supposed to lose their charges when sitting around. This is false - after only a couple of weeks of non-use, they do indeed start to lose a good bit of charge and you need to top them off every month or so if you don't use them frequently. Regardless, one of two of them stopped and so far I haven't heard back from the mfg, though their web site isn't very consumer friendly regarding their return policies.

Pros

  • Adequate Power
  • Easy To Set Up
  • Long Lasting Power
  • Quiet Operation
  • Reliable Performance
  • Small Footprint
  • Use It For My 110s Device

Cons

    Best Uses

    • For Cpap Machine

Comments about Escape 150 Adventure Kit:

I use mine for my cpap machine. Electricity in this part of the world is erratic - blackouts and brownouts EVERYDAY!!!! There is a LOT of SUN here. Only 6-8 hours to fully charge with 2 panels!!!! SO now, I can go to work with full night's rest the next day if the power goes off the night before. When fully charged, I have enough power for 8 hours of sleep plus about 20% of battery juice left!

I also have 110 gadgets from the US and being in a 220 world, I use mine as an adaptor/step down! Yay! I wish they would make the battery/unit lighter and smaller/or more portable so I can travel (air) with it to countries with no reliable source of power.

Comments about Escape 150 Adventure Kit:

My guess is this is the best value for the money - Built-in inverter, small footprint, various output options. It is also very easy to maintain (should your battery contacts come off or your battery require replacement).

The light a life system is outstanding. Charging cell phones, iPods, game devices, etc., is perfect. I too, use a CPAP. I need to keep the humidifier turned off to get through the night. You need to be cognizant of your laptop power requirements too. If you plan on using your Escape 150, I would recommend using a netbook or something with low power requirements.

I recommend purchasing a Boulder 30m and two 8.00mm to Input 4.7mm adapters. You could daisy chain your originl 15m panel with your additional 30m panel. This way you may minimize your solar charging time, while maximizing your capabilitiy. I understand these two panels (15 and 30m) will be the maximum input voltage your escape will accept.

Power Packs broke within two years

    Cons

    • Unreliable Performance

    Best Uses

    • Portable Electronics

Comments about Escape 150 Adventure Kit:

Our family uses two power packs daily regularly to charge portable electronics. The daisy chain design allows us to use four solar panels to quickly charge up one power pack in 5 hours of sun. Most recently, the battery life on one has died and the port connection on the other loosened and will not charge. The savings on our electric bill is $20/mo. with the two--a possible savings of $360/each for a lifespan of 3 years. At this rate, the cost of the Escape 150 is higher than our savings.

Comments about Escape 150 Adventure Kit:

Wife got Escape for my CPAP for use in my horse trailer. 2 test runs only ran my unit for 1 hour 10 minutes on both tests. Got a second panel to speed up charge time. Worked well. Tried battery on small LCD TV. Lasted about 1.5 hours. Unit would be fine for low draw items like laptops, tent or camp light. Don't expect big results from a small unit. I rated the unit a 3 because it didn't meet the demand I had in store for it.

This was a gift for myself and family. We take it camping and I use it to charge my cell phone and laptop at night. My kids love to charge their devices on it as well.
The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is that I had been using the wall plug to charge the unit and when I attempted to use the solar pannel to charge it took a longer than expected.
