Originally a Kansas City Monarch in the Negro Leagues, Ernie Banks broke into Major League Baseball in 1953 with the Chicago Cubs becoming the franchise's first African American player. The Shortstop/First Baseman played his entire MLB career with the Cubs slamming 512 HR, driving in 1636 runs appearing in 11 All-Star Games and winning 2 National League MVP Awards (1958, 1959). Mr. Cub as he is affectionately known had his number 14 retired by Chicago and was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1977.
Ernie Banks has hand signed this official MLB baseball and added the Hall of Fame inscription 'HOF 77.' This product comes complete with a Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity.
