This trimmer may work OK for nose hairs and perhaps for sideburns but it is close to useless for neatening the edges around a beard. It does not seem to be able to cut these thicker, stiffer hairs at all. Because the picture shows a man with a beard I assumed that it could be used to trim around the edges of a beard but it can't do that at all.

I have owned many nose trimmers (Panasonic, Sharper Image, etc) and the cutting performance differs greatly. The difference is in the blade design, the Brookstone design uses cutting blades that 'float' inside the metal dome. This allows the blades to cut closer and stay sharp longer than other designs. Well engineered trimmer for those of us who need "extra" grooming.
