Dual-Zone Better Than Down® Comforter

Sleeps cooler on one side, toasty warm on the other.

She’s cold. He’s hot. But both are happy under our Dual-Zone Better Than Down® Comforter. Perfect if you share a bed but not the same comfort zone! She wants layers of blankets. He wants only a sheet—if that. Many couples sleep with different comfort preferences, so we created the Dual-Zone Comforter. This all-season comforter is never “too warm” like other comforters. Why? Because one half is our original Better Than Down® Comforter, filled with ultra-soft synthetic microfiber that is lofty and warm. The other side has half as much fill, so it sleeps “cooler” than the other side. He stays cool while she stays warm. Now both can sleep at their ideal temperature, all year long. Both sides are proportionately box-stitched to keep the Better Than Down® filling distributed evenly, maintaining consistent head-to-toe comfort. Machine washable.

Full/Queen: 90" x 90"
King: 108" x 94"

Thick side + thin side = happy couple.
• Hypoallergenic fill mimics down without clumping or cold spots
• Ultra-soft microfiber shell
• Cool half features 50% less fill
• Box-stitched to keep filling evenly distributed
• Conveniently machine washable

Share a comfortable night’s sleep without sweaty sheets or extra covers. Get a Dual-Zone Better Than Down® Comforter today from Brookstone!

My husband and I are classic examples of one person being too hot, the other too cold. This definitely solved that problem! I get hot at night and the lighter side was perfect for me. However, there are some negatives. 1) The king size is wrong. I used it inside a king-size duvet cover and there was probably a foot of extra space between the edge of the duvet cover on the side and the edge of the comforter. The length seemed to be ok. 2) When it's on the bed, you can definitely see the difference in thickness. Not a huge issue, but something I just didn't think about before purchasing - it makes sense, though. 3) Some reviews mentioned lint. When I took it out of the duvet cover, I noticed little pilling-like lint randomly over the comforter. This wouldn't necessarily bother me because we use it in a cover and it wasn't noticeable - no lint popping out. But if used alone I could see how this would be a problem.

Overall, I would recommend this for the fact that it does what it says it will do. However, buyer beware that there are some negatives - if you can live with them, this is a great comforter for a great price!

I bought a king, a full and a twin "better than down" comforters last year. King was used regularly and the first time I took it out of the cover to wash the cover, I couldn't believe how bad it shed (or possibly leaked). I cleaned it up and put it back in the clean cover. A few months later, I took it out again and found lots more. Called Brookstone and was told they couldn't help...no receipt...too much time...blah, blah, blah so again put it back in a clean cover and still use it but have a mess every time I wash the cover. Now the full comforter in our little-used guest room is doing the same. It is so bad I've spent a lot of time looking for a hole to see where the leak is. No hole to be found so I have to assume it is the comforter. I don't want to buy a cover so I just put the comforter in the trash. If it had happened once, I would have thought I just got a lemon but two out of three (and the third is on an unused daybed)and the other comments tell me it is a quality issue. I used to like Brookstone and their products but they have lost me as a customer.

Comments about Dual-Zone Better Than Down® Comforter:

This would have been perfect if they had made the thin side going the short direction instead of the long direction. On an Eastern King bed, the 108 direction needs to go sideways, but the orientation of the thin/thick is lengthways. So if you want warm feet and cold shoulders, it would be OK on an Eastern King. BUT if you want both spouses to have their own comfort level, this product needs to be redesigned or resized.

Comments about Dual-Zone Better Than Down® Comforter:

This was a gift from my granddaughter as i only use down alternative blankets. It was a queen size blanket. It was great until i took it to be washed..it came out with clumps all over. Every monining I need to smooth out the clumps so it becomes somewhat of a blanket. I want to throw it out by dont want to offend my granddaughter. Sometimes the filling is at the bottom and i lay there freezing until i start working on the puzzle to re-arrange the filling..

Comments about Dual-Zone Better Than Down® Comforter:

There's another review here that says the comforter "zones" are divided from top to bottom instead of side to side - which would be perfect if you and your partner's torsos are hot while your lower bodies are freezing. When I read that review, I thought the comforter in question had to be a mistake. No one would design a comforter that absurdly.

              Aaaaand I was wrong.

When we arrange it so that I get the warm half and my husband gets the cool, the comforter doesn't fill the duvet or span the whole bed. Which, incidentally, means it functions well enough since my husband ends up with an empty duvet.

Weirdest comforter I've ever seen, and it's king sized, so I can't return it. Ta da!!

September thru April use required two full lint roller sheets to remove little white fuzzies from both sides and from sheet underneath - and our clothes. NOw, after its first machine washing, the fuzzies are still there and are more difficult to remove with the lint roller! Disappointing. I will make a duvet cover for it for next winter.

After just 2 months, this thing had shed tons of lint/pills all over the inside of our cover. Not a big deal, we though—we'll just wash it and then hopefully this won't happen again. Followed all the instructions, and when we pulled it out of the dryer, it was covered in lint, again. Returning for a refund, and never buying another bedding product from Brookstone again.

What most will not discover until they wash the cover this comforter was in (not even the comforter itself) is that the amount of lint will ruin anything you wash with it and many loads thereafter as you won't be able to get it out - it will be a layer of fuzz all over your clothes that you cannot get off. This was a nightmare. I also think I inhaled a lot of the lint which cannot be good for you. I have no idea why this comforter sheds so much, but it is really odd, and not worth it.
