Bought this for our office. We have numerous people that aren't very hygienic, so this was a perfect fit. HOWEVER...some guy went up to the CandyMan Candy Dispenser today and stuck his hand out under it. He got several m&m's in his hand and then opened up the top and dropped them back INTO the dispenser. He said, "I didn't want them...I just wanted to see what it did." SO...I had to throw out ALL of the m&m's and rewash the entire thing. To prevent this in the future...I taped the lid closed and put a note on the top that says, "DO NOT put candy back INTO the dispenser."
Great product though! I guess I just need to spell it out for some people that don't get WHY this product is so great.

I just got this item yesterday - not directly from Brookstone, but it is this model. I got mine through a rewards program (redeemed points). We unwrapped it and put in the batteries, and it worked once then not again. I tried moving it around, seeing if anything was stuck, and found that if I tip it upside down, stuff falls out (we used Jelly Bellys)... but it didn't "run". We then replaced the batteries, in case the ones we put in weren't fresh, but no luck. Still doesn't work.

Used this product with my grandchildren. It was great for six months, and then the light sensor for activating the machine stopped. I'd say it's defective workmanship and not worth the money!!

We use this in our school office for M & M's. It eliminates dirty hands reaching into the jar for candy. The only negative I have is that the adjustable portion control only goes so small, and it doesn't seem small enough. Each serving gives out too many M & M's, making the supply run out quicker. It needs to be adjusted down a little.
