Great speakers,but not designed for iPad

First, the speakers are fantastic!! I read a review for another product on another page, and the customer wanted good speakers to play music for her physical therapy patients. The product she bought didn't cut it whereas these speakers can be heard throughout many rooms. So, I hope she will find this product because the speakers and portability are wonderful.
The downside is that I bought this for an iPad, and it is definitely not designed for it. With an iPad, you have to pick up the boombox, look closely and try to line up the docking station with the iPad and then force it in and hope you get it on the first or second time. Ever since buying this product, I have had trouble getting my iPad to charge with its own wall charger, and I'm wondering if an inner prong got slightly misaligned from trying to get it on the boombox.
Once the iPad is in, it is not stable for walking around with it or moving it because there is no foundation for the iPad to rest. It is simply in mid-air attached only by the charger. If you're primarily going to keep it in one place, this is fine.
The upside is how wonderful this product would be for an iPod. An iPod slides easily right onto the charger and is small enough to not worry about it falling off if you move around with it.
Also, there's a button you push to open the little door that hides the docking station. After just a handful of uses and only a couple of weeks of having this product, the little door will no longer open. So, I have to return this product for this reason. I'm sure this is just a fluke.
The bottom line: 1) This product was designed for an iPod, not an iPad. 2) The speakers are fantastic. 3) The radio is a wonderful addition. 4) Hopefully the next generation of this product will have a better design for an iPad. I will wait until then to try it out again.

I use this to play music from my applications when I'm cooking or gardening. It was fantastic until I discovered how delicate it is as the connection with the ipad is not too sturdy and the ipad can fall! It almost did, and while trying to save the ipad, it damaged the entry of the connector. I had to go exchange it because it wasn't connecting well. The FM radio barely gives good reception... Other than. Those two things, it's a cool item!

This speaker is great! I use it for my ipod classic, and the sound is very clear and full. The entire unit is very light, so it's easy to carry and place anywhere you want. The adjustable dock however is made in such a way that you need to place the whole speaker on a level surface. The volume can also get pretty loud. The radio works fine too. And the remote makes this speaker even easier to use! If you want to use this speaker with an ipod classic like me, you need to know something first. It ONLY charges the 7th generation model due to software restrictions. I found this out with my old 5th generation ipod classic; it still played great, but I couldn't charge it or use the remote with it. Luckily, I was planning on getting my 7th generation ipod classic, and now I have it and it charges just like the owner's manual promised.

Nice design and decent audio quality. Works really well with my iphone but attaching an ipad is not easy and I'm always afraid I'm damaging it when forcing it on the charging pins.

This is a good player for the price. All of our iPods fit easily into the unit. The sound is good and it seems to have some volume. I haven't tried it outside yet, so not 100 percent sure if the volume will be sufficient. While it is portable the design would fit my needs better if you could have a unit in it while carrying it around. I loved Brookstones previous model of an iPod player. The previous model was durable and practical for a portable unit. Plus the sound seemed deeper and rich and volume was excellent.

When I got a new phone my old iPhone wasn't worth anything, so I loaded it full of music and use it as an iPod. I love the compact design of the boom box and the sound is great. I use it mostly in the bedroom but have started taking it to the kitchen when I'm preparing meals. The sound quality is clean and crisp. I will on occasion use my iPad with the boom box and it's cool to have the iPad display the album covers when I set my iPad or phone to shuffle. Set up was so easy and the remote control is great to have next to the bed. I wasn't sure what the sound quality would be like based on the price, but I'm extremely happy that at such a low price I have something that delivers quality sound. I'm thinking of buying another to have in my office.

I had previously left a 5 star review of my speakers, but after using the product for about 4 months on an almost daily basis,I have had difficulties with it. The docking port worked well enough at first, but developed an intermittent incompatability with my IPad over time. This turned into full-time issue about 2 weeks ago and I can no longer use it with my IPad.

The only issue I have with this is that I originally had it placed near my TV but found that my TV remote would mute it or change the radio station while I was trying to watch TV. I moved the boombox away from the TV and then everything worked just fine. Great sound and easy to use. Love that it charges my iPhone!
