I was gifted the Body Bean in 2011 and used it to stay warm while visiting my father in law who lives in New Hampshire in a 100 year old home. He kindly gives up his upstairs bedroom for us to use while there. There isn't any heat in the upstairs at all so we would heat the bean and then use it to keep warm all night.
This Christmas season my daughter is home from serving in the Peace Corps on the island of Java in Indonnesia. Since returning from south of the equator she is cold all the time. I let her use my bean and she finally became warm. She carried it everywhere. I bought three as gifts, one for my oldest daughter, one for another returning Peace Corps volunteer and my youngest daughter. The youngest lives with her older sister and I know from personal experience, sharing the bean is not fun!

I chose the Body Bean over heating devices one places in a microwave because I wanted to use it in the bedroom, which is on a different floor in my apartment from the microwave. The bean does not stay truly hot for more than an hour and a half--2 hours, tops. That's not so bad, as you can reheat it, but the device's biggest flaw is the very tight-fitting cover w/its short zipper--it is very difficult to wrestle the bean in and out of the cover, and also hard to insert the large plug under the cover and attach it to the bean, without removing the cover. It can be done, but it is a struggle. Were the cover easier to manipulate, I would rate this product much more highly.

I like that once it's heated, you unplug it and it stays very hot for about an hour, then keeps warm for hours! NO PLUG later...once it's heated after about 20 mins...you remove plug and put it in the little pillow case. I wouldn't recommend taking off the pillow case initially...your skin will burn or become very red...it's there for a reason..hours later when it's medium warm..then you may do that without harm...I'm reading people initially are never using the pillowcase it comes with after heating it...dangerous mistake for your skin! It's verrrrry hot initially, works fine with case on!

I bought this while on a business trip when my TMJ started acting up. It fits comfortably on my jawline without burning my face. I can fall asleep with it and know that it will not burn or catch fire. I was pleasantly surprised that in the morning I wasn't leaning against a freezing, cold pack. The pad held my body temperature and was still comfortable. I liked this product so much, I bought 3 more for each of my adult children.
