I already review the travel model and now I've made exchange for the one I wanted, which was the studio model, complete with AC adaptor. The travel one runs only on rechargeable batteries and is a lot smaller.

The studio is still a lot smaller than a set of speakers, and I like that under cramped conditions. It really sounds good, and once I figured out all the lines in and out on my computer, I got it to work, even with Netflix. I don't know what the rear jacks are for, one for line in, another for line out. I tried my headphones but that didn't work. I think they should have on line out.

I suppose the strangest thing about it is that whenever I turn it on to use it, the volume has dropped back to inaudible. I'll think it's not working again, and then remember to turn it up using the "+" sign on top. All my computer volume settings are at max.

After some trouble getting it to work, especially with Netflix, I'm happy with Big Blue, and compared to Bose it's not so expensive while sounding almost as good, certainly good enough for my purposes. I have an older Bose radio/Cd player if I really need that. I can't get BBC on that, however. I got this for sound from my computer. The Bluetooth is great! I didn't need yet another port, as though there were one.

All in all, a nice device, now that I have the right one. (The travel model isn't bad--for travel, not for home.)

Oh yeah, the noises it makes and that reviewers have written about. Mostly those don't bother me, though last night it let out one that about blew my brains out. Don't know what that one was for. It does make a lot of them when turning on and off, no doubt.

One thing first: I'd ask those who use Big Blue outdoors to remember that some people like quiet. Don't add to noise pollution. Big Blue can boom pretty well.

As for Big Blue, I bought the travel model first by mistake. I sent it back and got the studio model, which is the one my doctor had and which I'd heard. Turns out the travel model will do something I can't get the studio model to do: play Netflix audio. How weird is that? I just can't understand this, though still working on it. The sound is quite good on the studio model, and not bad on the travel model. I'd have kept the travel model were it not for time it takes to recharge the battery. That model has no AC adaptor.

I don't get, for either model, why the sync by way of "headphones." It's just awkward. (It shows up on my Mac as headphones.) Both models work well with radio stations, though for some, like BBC, one must have the latest Adobe Flash.

I don't keep my music on computer and I bought Big Blue because I needed an external speaker for my computer--so I'd not have to hook up headphones. (Mac's internal speaker is seriously lousy. I can't hear it.)

Maybe it's the Bluetooth, I'm not sure, but I'm not too happy that I can't get Netflix audio and that connectivity is problematic in general. I'd recommend to a friend but with reservation.

Heard the sound from the mall way, went to investigate, and Taj showed me how to use it from my iPhone. He was very patient and explained it was on sale, and I purchased the Purple ( My husband's favorite color). Got it home and it was awesome!

      Thank you Taj!

Bought this as a gift for my wife on her Birthday, she was using some "hokey" two speaker iPod type unit that sounded like it looked. Buy this, (we got purple) plug it in, sync your device and "Walla"! You have just Amazing sound! She loves it!

The first speaker I bought worked great for 7 months then stopped working completely. I email Brookstone support and they sent me a return merchandise number, I sent the defective speaker in and they sent me a new replacement. I really like the speaker and hope that this new one last longer than the first.

It sounded nice when new. Havent used it in several months and now it wont play. I can pair with it fine but there is no sound. No beep occurs when trying to pair. I presume the amplifier inside failed. Has been sitting on a desk. Looks nice. For the price you can find better speakers out there.

Comments about Big Blue™ Studio Wireless Bluetooth Speaker:

He works in his garage often and listens to the radio in his car with the windows down (running down the battery in his car), so I decided to get him this product for Christmas fully expecting him to add speakers to it. To my surprise, however, it was perfect for him without any additional sound! He loves it!
