The speaker sounds great and the bluetooth capability works well. We attempted to connect it via optical and RCA cable, but it won't put any sound. We contacted Brookstone, they verified that our TV was compatible. Returned speaker and exchanged for a new one, thinking that our first one had a defect. The second one did the same thing - great with Bluetooth, doesn't work with TV. We called Brookstone again, the representative said they have had issues with the circuit board. So, needless to say, we are returning the second one as well.

I am very happy with the looks and sound of the unit, however the controls have a mind of their own, which ruins it. The controls are touch sensitive and do not always respond when trying to adjust volume, treble, or bass. Other times they start adjusting these on their own. This is especially frustrating when they cut the volume off completely, or turn it to full blast without touching any controls. I experienced this with the first unit I bought, exchanged it for another one, and am experiencing it with the replacement unit also. It's a shame because it is a nice piece if it wasn't for these defective controls!

I'm a very careful shopper, I do a lot of research and I carefully pick out my purchases.
The sound quality is awesome! After adjustments to my phone's equalizer and tweaking the settings on the unit I was very happy with the quality of the sound.
As far as the Bluetooth goes...
I have not had any problems that other reviewers are having. It's hooked up to my ipod as well as my android phone, no connectivity issues whatsoever. As a matter of fact, last night I used my ipod in my office and my wife said the unit played spotty music all the way down in the living room. My house is large, 3800 sf and my office is on the opposite end of the house one floor up from this unit, maybe 60' away.
Furthermore, I have never had any dropped signals on the entire first floor of my house. My first floor is an open floor plan and I had the unit in the center with a radius of approx. 30'.
This unit is very cool, the power cord is a little annoying with a transformer, but most people will probably hide it behind a tv or couch. The unit would be nicer if it were all black as well.

I love the idea of this thing. It sounds great. The times I got it to connect, I could walk far away from it unlike the other reviewer. The problem is trying to get it to connect. I have connected to it 3 times. Now I can't get it to. I have tried everything. I have followed instructions over and over. Unplugged it, tried other phones. etc. What a pain, and i was so excited when I got it for Christmas. It's going back.

I bought this for my husband for his Birthday because he wanted a system and I thought the blue tooth was a great feature. What I did not expect is that it you move the ipod, ipad, mp3 farther than 10 from the speaker, the speaker will start skipping. It totally defeats the purpose of the blue tooth feature.
