I have looked at high thread-count down comforters for over 2 years. I was so unhappy with my last down purchase that I decide to research and search high and low this time around! Just when I was about to spend over $400 on something with a high thread count (which was one of the MUST HAVES according to my research) I found this "alternative down" spread from Brookstone. My thoughts were that I would simply return it if it didn’t work out and bite the bullet for the more expensive one. Living in Charleston, SC, we needed something that would be perfect for all seasons, including very humid weather, but we also wanted some amount of “weight” - I hate skimpy covers. I also wanted the bed to look comfy when "made-up" - and inviting. Last night was our first night sleeping under this comforter and we could not be more pleased. Not only does it feel like very high thread count cotton - the weight is perfect –even when inside my duvet. It’s definitely what I would call heavy – but it’s not hot. I can't get over the money we saved! We are thrilled!

I am returning to revise my review..... I love the cover's softness and puffiness, but unfortunately over time (about 6 months) the filling shifts so that there are spots with no warmth at all.... definitely changes my overall view. Too bad, and I still love it but have to shake up and I suspect soon that will not work too well either.

I had this comforter in a queen size. When we bought a king size bed I shopped around and decided to get the king size of the same comforter. It is plenty warm (my husband sleeps with A/C & a fan on almost year round)! I don't often machine wash the comforter, but will hang it outside to freshen it up and when it actually needs to be machine washed haven't had any problems. My only wish is that it was a little larger to hang down further since we have an extra deep mattress.

I read many reviews prior to purchasing this item. I was concerned after reading some of the consumers had issues with the comforter after washing it. I have washed it several times and had no issue. I would recommend washing the comforter alone on a delicate cycle and either using an air fluff option on the dryer or hanging on a line to dry if at all possible. Other than dealing with those specifics the product is fabulous. It is soft, light weight and warm, without being overly hot. A great product at a great price.

I bought this blanket back in the summer of 2008. Upon its first washing, the baffle-box construction started giving way and all the down filling started shifting to the corners. Now, nearly 5 years later, it's gotten to the point where the middle of the blanket is all empty and the corners are filled. Now I'm in the market for a new blanket and I will not be purchasing a new one from Brookstone.

Don't buy this! Its a complete waste of money bought this last Christmas on a deal. Well it turned out to be a very bad deal. Looking for a new comforter already. I used it with a duvet cover, took complete care of it but it fills the whole room with lint every time i change the cover.

After much research, study, talks with friends and family, I decided that I did not want to take the chance of feathers or allergies so I ordered Brookstone's all season comforter....and am I glad I did! It is perfect. Oversized so it fits my duvet perfectly, the edges are double stiched, the "boxes" are 12 inch square so there is no shifting, lightweight but warm, I don't even need socks to warm my feet when I first get into bed, one or two minutes and they are toasty. My husband and I are at the age that we don't want anything heavy on us at night but still need warmth and this comforter is the answer. You cannot go wrong. And the price is even better compared with others that I looked at. Don't wait, get it now!

Very happy with purchase! The comforter was big enough to fit into my king size duvet which made a nice fluffy look. Just what I needed. Many other comforters were too small to make the fluffy look. It is nice and warm. For the summer I will probably use a cotton blanket and fold down the comforter, as it will probably be too warm for summer. The free pillows that came with are very nice also.

It sheds lint everywhere. I returned it to be told you can't get your money back, but they would replace it once. The second one is just as bad. I was totally screwed. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
