i got this for christmas. i was not convinced it was all it was cracked up to be. well, it is. i am getting more of these for myself, and as gifts. i live in southern california. earthquake country. we need a powerful flashlight at a moments notice. without wondering if the thing will work. also, to anybody who want to protect themselves, this is a bright and sturdy flashlight. i will be giving these out to all my loved ones!

I actually bought this to replace an older very high quality LED flashlight I had bought at Brookstone a few years earlier (lost at university).. I hate to say that I was disappointed with this.. it's nice for quick uses but being a "wind-up" flashlight, the intensity of the flashlight goes out after a few minutes and you need to continuously wind it for best effects.. I'd recommend getting an LED flashlight that uses a standard battery.

i have one in each room of the house, especially the kids room, not only for use in an emergency, but also they like to play with it in the dark. it's lightweight and easy to use and small enough for them to handle, and the best part...never needs batteries!! since we never know when the next power outage will be, i never have to remember to change the batteries! i just wish they would make something like this for my smoke alarm!!
