I've only had this clock for a few days, but so far it's been great. The alarm really is gradual - I keep the clock less than a foot away from my head and I barely hear it when it first starts to go off, but as it gets louder I hear it and wake up before my husband even notices it. The clock is three minutes behind my computer, cell phone, and cable clocks, but it's only three minutes, so not a big problem. I was at first disappointed that I really need to have the backlight off completely to sleep, but I'm really glad it gives that option. You just tap the snooze button to see the clock at night and, though it comes on bright, it's only on for a few seconds and then automatically goes off again. Also, it is difficult to see the time during the day when the backlight is off, so I've been turning the backlight on in the morning and off at night - no big deal. Just so glad to finally have a clock that doesn't act as a night light too! Oh- and as a side note - I thought this clock was unreliable at first - it kept turning off and resetting itself. I thought it was possessed, but it turns out that I didn't have the cord fully plugged into the clock - you have to push the little round plug all the way into the clock so it will stay put. Once I did that, I actually found it difficult to unplug from the clock - which is a good thing as I flail about in the mornings reaching for the snooze button!

I like the feature that displays the active alarm time setting. I guess when I read self-setting I assumed it received the radio signal from the U.S. Atomic clock. Actually, the unit has a self-contained battery operated clock which continues to tell time from when it is set at the factory. If the power goes out, the battery clock keeps the correct time until it comes back on. It is calendar programmed for Daylight Savings Time; let's hope they don't change the dates. You can manually set the time and will have to once the battery runs out. This clock is meant for people who are confused about setting digital timepieces, not for fans of atomic accuracy.

I liked the one I bought for myself so much and so did my niece and friend that I have bought one for each of them as gifts and we all love it. If you set the button for your time zone BEFORE you plug it in it is fun to watch it automatically adjust, if you plug it in first it is still easy to make the adjustment. I love that the light can be dimmed or brightend easily and the two alarms are very helpful. I think I will probably be buying more as gifts since the rest of the family is jealous of ours. Great buy and great product.

My clock radio I've had for around 20 years finally stopped keeping good time. I was looking for a replacement that I could dim the display and was easy to set. This clock gave all that, plus it is self setting and very nice looking. Highly recommended!

I like everything about this clock from it's size, to being able to adjust the brightness, to the ease of use. I wish it would say to adjust the time zone before you plug it in just to have seen it zip to the right time, but adjusting it was not hard to do so I found out this clock would work for travel also. I am very pleased with this purchase and it is a great value.

I wanted an alarm clock that didn't light up the room at night. This has adjustable lighting and you can also turn the light off completely. Just hit the snooze button for a quick look to see the time and the light goes out again! Perfect!
