Where I live, we have power outages every time there’s a snow or ice storm, so I’ve gotten very frustrated with most digital alarm clocks over the years. This clock has made life easier, for sure. I don’t even have to think about it anymore.

This radio has some really nice ergonomic design features. Each of the two alarms is enabled by a large tactile push-button, making it easy to see if the alarm is set. When an alarm is enabled, the alarm time and mode is automatically displayed so you can double check quickly to see if your alarm settings are what you intend. The clock numerals are large, and the backlight has 4 levels of brightness plus completely off, so it's easy to set the light level to your liking. Other nice additions: aux input and headphone out (but see below).
If this unit has a serious flaw, it is the very noticeable hum coming from the speaker whenever the radio is on (FM, AM or aux). I like to wake to radio as my alarm mode, and since the radio is right next to my bed, a low volume setting is sufficient to wake me. Unfortunately, with this radio I hear more hum than actual radio sound at low volume settings. The source of the problem is the cheap power supply that comes with the radio. It's one of those "wall wart" blackboxes that plugs directly into your wall outlet and which provides the low DC voltage to run the clock and radio. Problem is, these power supplies are very poorly filtered, meaning some of the 60Hz alternating voltage from the wall makes it to the speaker. The hum is much worse if the clock backlight is set on high. The sad thing is that for the cost of an additional 50 cents in parts, this radio could have been designed to properly filter out this annoying hum. Maybe someone at Brookstone will ask their radio supplier about this and get it designed right next time.
Regarding the auto-setting clock: it does NOT synchronize to an atomic clock by way of a satellite (as my Brookstone clerk claimed). It merely has an internal battery that keeps the clock going when it's not plugged in. The factory-set time is close to correct, and you can correct it with a little hassle if you require an exact time setting.
Bottom line: nice clock, but if you are at all concerned about the quality of audio sound, particularly at low volumes, pass on this unit.

Comments about TimeSmart Self-Setting Alarm Clock Radio:
It's a great clock, but the radio quality is poor. There's a constant buzz under the sound, and when you turn it off the radio stops but the buzz continues for a few seconds.

Comments about TimeSmart Self-Setting Alarm Clock Radio:
Before purchasing this clock I read all the reviews. Several were complaining about the display being to bright. I do not agree with this at all. You can adjust to your taste and the lowest setting is dark. This is exactly the clock/radio I was looking for and would recommend it to anyone.

Good dual alarm clock radio with presets. My only complaint is that it seems to lose a few minutes every few months.

Comments about TimeSmart Self-Setting Alarm Clock Radio:
Great clock with outstanding features. Love the automatic setting of time and two different alarm settings. Only negative, it's a little hard to set alarm times. Have only had for one week, so this will probably get easier.
I would recommend this product...

Comments about TimeSmart Self-Setting Alarm Clock Radio:
The only issue with this clock is that it was not easy to pre-set a radio station to coincide with the alarm. It kept defaulting to a station that was static-y. Since we really don't listen to that radio, once we were able to set it so we would wake up to it, it's OK now.

Comments about TimeSmart Self-Setting Alarm Clock Radio:
The display is way to bright and when you lower the intensity you can't ready the time. Also, the radio alarm time plays only one hour where all previous alarm clock radios played for 2 hours. I'm just like the 2 hours more but I have a work around.

This is what I have been looking for, a good clock radio and the best part is, it sets the time itself and if the power goes off? It remembers..it can't get any better then that and it changes for daylight savings time!!
