I LOVE the fact that the wires retract. It is great to not have to deal with all the tangled cords. My primary complaint is that they need to put a clip on the retracting component so you can anchor it to your shirt. Otherwise, it bounces around with walking, jogging, gets caught when working out. This in turn pulls the buds out of your ear and I feel leads to shorts in the wiring. This becomes an issue as I've went through probably 5 pairs in the last 2 years. Buy the protection plan. I continue to just take them back and get new ones. This could really be an awsome product with more durable wiring (like the ones that come with apple products) and a clip.

These ear buds are comfortable but they won't stay in. The retraction mechanism for the chord tangled and broke within minutes of me trying to use it. There was no salvaging it. I simply removed the ear buds from the mechanism in order to continue to use them. But at this hefty price, that is terrible.
Also there simply is NO rich sound. These produce a very flat sound no matter what you plug them into. I've had el cheapo ear buds sound much better than these. They do work for noise reduction however.

Comments about Sound Isolating Earbuds:
I do not use these headphones for anything but listening to my iPad or iPod or iPhone. Now they have a short. Junk. Did not last 2 years.... They should last 5. Poor engineering. Do not buy. Way to expensive. Go to the $1 store because they are the same quality.

Comments about Sound Isolating Earbuds:
Device arrived with cords tangled inside the mechanism, so cords have to be pulled out with effort, and will not retract completely. This negates the advantage of a "no tangle" cord system.

Comments about Sound Isolating Earbuds:
Great sound quality for the price! However, the cord is pretty flimsy. My cord shorted out but Brookstone replaced it for free. Still the best earbuds I have ever owned!

Comments about Sound Isolating Earbuds:
I lost my 1st pair after a year and have now had my 2nd pair for a couple of years and I LOVE THEM. They go with me on every trip (one day or 3 weeks)...and I travel often. This second pair is just now starting to falter so I'll happily buy a third. The thing is, 4 month ago I started using them daily at work and IMO they are not meant for longterm daily use. They're better left for intermittant use. I plan to use my QC2 at work and leave these in my backpack. Enjoy!

Comments about Sound Isolating Earbuds:
I bought my first pair for travel. Great for that purpose. But not so great at the gym. As the others have said, the retraction mechanism is too heavy for the lightweight cords, and without a clip, it bounces around and pulls the buds out of your ears when on the elliptical. Really unusable for that. My first pair eventually shorted out, probably from the constant tugging.
But, I found them so convenient for travel and work that I bought a second pair anyway. Love the retractable cord, I can toss it in my bag without worrying about a tangled mess when pulling it out.

Comments about Sound Isolating Earbuds:
I bought these at an airport and it was the best thing I ever did. These really block out all outside noises, which is perfect while traveling, vacationing, and working out. They lasted about 3 years and then the right speaker didn't work anymore. I guess I got my money's worth and I'm going to go out and buy another pair. I also bought them for both my teenagers (son and daughter) and they love them too!

Comments about Sound Isolating Earbuds:
I bought this in an airport, thinking it would be a stopgap. I grew to like them quite a bit. I know some complain that the cord is short, but I think it needs to be that short for the retractability to work properly. That's great feature if you wear your iPod in an armband when working out as the cord does not get in your way. Unfortunately, the music stopped playing in the right ear bud. It had been seven months, so I guess that's not bad for [$], but it was frustrating. I gave it four stars, but 3.5 is probably more accurate.

Comments about Sound Isolating Earbuds:
I tried several other earphones including higher end one of the same brand (Brookstone) but this one has the best balanced sound. Nothing else beats the bass of this earphone and it does not compromise treble and midrange.
Retractable design sets you free from tangling wire.
