The carrying case seems a little flimsy, but the actual product seems to be well-made and feels solid. The product works as advertised when you don't abuse it. Others have mentioned problems when using this product with laptops. This product has a 50W maximum on the low setting, and most laptops require more than 50W - no surprise that something got smoked. Be careful to follow the instructions, and don't exceed the unit's power rating, and you should have no problems. FWIW, this are the opinions of an electronic design engineer.

There are multiple outlet types in China. The newest buildings use a 3 prong outlet that will not accept the 2 prong angled adapter (safety feature). All the hotels I used had the US adapters available. There are adapters available in large cities in China.

After my son went to England & France a few years ago & our "international adapter" didn't work there, we were determined to find a good one that would work on multiple countries for his visit to CHINA. We found this and paid a small fortune for it.
It did not work as everywhere he stayed (a hotel in Shanghai & Taizhou University in SE China) had 3 prongs - the 2 slanted ones on this China prong, plus a vertical one above them much like our 3 pronged plugs in the USA.
So 2 weeks with no Skype with our son & he was very limited on his pictures, often finding himself without a disposable or a charged camera.
Would have been nice if the product had said it might not work or if someone at the store had a clue so they could have helped us!
He's about to leave for his 2nd trip to China, so now have to scrounge around looking for this obscure adapter & hope we can get it in time!
