The carrying case seems a little flimsy, but the actual product seems to be well-made and feels solid. The product works as advertised when you don't abuse it. Others have mentioned problems when using this product with laptops. This product has a 50W maximum on the low setting, and most laptops require more than 50W - no surprise that something got smoked. Be careful to follow the instructions, and don't exceed the unit's power rating, and you should have no problems. FWIW, this are the opinions of an electronic design engineer.

There are multiple outlet types in China. The newest buildings use a 3 prong outlet that will not accept the 2 prong angled adapter (safety feature). All the hotels I used had the US adapters available. There are adapters available in large cities in China.

I first bought this product in 2008 for a trip to the UAE. I was thrilled with its performance. From there, my friend kept it in the UAE to use with standard US electronics. I again used the product in Italy and had no issues. I'm going to be purchasing it again for my next trip abroad.

This product was fine until we plugged in a 1500 watt travel hair dryer. Sure I wasn't surprised that it blew. However, finding a replacement fuse was insane (still working on it).
