The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame won it all in 1988 as they went undefeated that season took home a National Championship and bested West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl.
They won in part thanks to the combined efforts of nose tackle Chris Zorich, quarterback Tony Rice, receiver Raghib 'Rocket' Ismail, linebacker Michael Stonebreaker, and Coach Lou Holtz.
